Emily St. John Mandel & Mallory Tater
Thursday April 09 | 7:00PM - 8:30PM

Best known for her dystopian novel Station Eleven, Emily St. John Mandel returns this spring with another immersive story of art and moral compromise. Moving between Manhattan, Vancouver Island, and a container ship off the coast of Mauritania, The Glass Hotel chronicles the lives of businessmen and bartenders caught in the crossfire of a massive Ponzi scheme destined to shatter the world as they know it. Ambitious and original, it’s one of our most anticipated titles of the year.
Also launching her debut novel is Victoria’s Mallory Tater, whose fiercely feminist The Birth Yard has already drawn comparisons to The Handmaid’s Tale. Following three teenage girls embedded in a patriarchal “breeding” cult called The Den, it’s a fast-paced read that never loses track of its human core—or the forces that question half of our population’s humanity.
Join us for an evening of conversation with two novelists taking on our generation’s biggest questions with artistry and depth.
